1961 Getzen 90PB 'Power Bore' Bb trumpet. The top-of-the-line model in it's day, the 90PB is a .468 large bore version of the Super Deluxe without the copper 'plumber bits'. This horn was refinished by Tom Green at Green's Buffing 5 years ago and is in beautiful looking and playing condition. Polished nickel silver accents and gold lacquer in a scratch finish (covered in a clear top coat) make for one of the most stunningly beautiful horns you will ever see. Horn was in very good condition when refinished, with no damage to the bell or other areas of the horn ... The original lacquer was just getting spotty.

This horn plays nicely, with even and efficient valves, and open and comfortable blow in any range, and decent slotting. It really opens up at 'A' above the staff ... Great for lead work. Like most vintage horns, it has a personality that is easy to get use to, and is overall a gem to play and enjoy. Vintage valves feature a roller-wheel design which works very well, but aren't as fast as that on a modern Getzen ... but you won't feel restricted at all while playing. This model was often a custom order and are fairly rare because of very low production numbers. If you are a Getzen lover and/or collector, you need this horn!

The good: very nice all-around horn in great condition.

The less than perfect: 3rd slide compression is weak. Tom Green added a small pad on the underside of the lead pipe (where the tuning slide inserts) where there was a hairline crack ... The tuning slide must have been a tad too tight. The pad does not change the playing characteristics, it simply supports the structure from further cracking. 1 small dimple on inside of bell.

    the bad: nothing

I thought I'd keep this trumpet forever, but simply don't play it much anymore as I'm unwilling to take it out to gigs ... So after much internal contemplation, I've decided to offer it for sale. Everyone that sees and plays it has felt very positive about this horn. Here is your chance to own a special piece of Getzen history. Includes original case. $1,250 includes shipping CONUS. PayPal preferred. Email me at [email protected] with any questions.

*** Happy New Year = price reduced to $1,000 CONUS ***
