    Patric,
being a teacher means accepting responsibility. In these days of downloadable cheats, many young people think that they can short circuit the system and jump in at the deep end. The problem there is that you take someone else down with you. That is not responsible behaviour.

It is important to realize that a teacher influences all further activities with their teaching. Failing as a teacher can spoil the experience for the student for the rest of their lives. That is the responsibility that YOU take on with EACH student. Your posting here shows that you are searching yourself and that is great. It also shows that you are not close to that point of being able to accept responsibility for someone elses playing. The downloadable cheats at trumpetmaster.com or anywhere else will not make you an acceptable teacher. A year or 2 of proper lessons for YOU from a good teacher would at least give your student a chance of getting the tools required to improve.

    Good luck!

The chances that this will not be a successful venture are very close to 100%.

Unfortunately, Patric, what Rowuk says is reality.... I know you are not taking lessons due to money issues, which I cetainly understand... A good option might be to find a teacher that is willing to work with both of you at the same time so that you two can split the cost of lessons... just some food for thought.
