I am considering having the inside of my trumpet bell which is silver plated re-done in gold plating. This would be for purely cosmetic reasons.
Is there any reason besides the $100 cost not to do this? What effect, if any, would it have on the sound? The tone of the trumpet now is a very classic commercial lead trumpet type sound. I am very happy with the horn, just want to do something so that it does not look exactly like hundreds of other trumpets.

It will not affect the sound at all, and it will look sharp.

A lot of the old classic trumpets from the 20s-40s were finished in satin silver with a gold wash in the bell.

    I really like that look.
