It's not a fake is it? I hope not...
Post some pics of the whole horn please.
I think it may be a Chinese Bach Strad copy. That serial number is just soooo wrong.
Not much you can do, but the spot repair may be the best option.
Can you put up a photo of the Bell Engraving?
The Chinese looks like an Etching stencil rather than Engraving. They are hard to spot at a glance, but that serial number is a give-away.
This is one of the many special edition trumpets from Bach. Look on the bell, or on the leadpipe for additional markings... Could be model 194, 195, 197, 198, NY 7, etc...
I couldn't really get a very clear photo, sorry.
Very likely - the Chinese copies sometimes don't have serials - plus, who's to say the serial will look "real"? Take a look at this one - it's a real Bach:
So it's a fake?
Do you think I'd be able to get my money back despite having bought it in January last year?
We won't know until you post pictures of the whole horn, let us see the whole thing. A close up of any other engraving you can find will help too. Some people like to guess based on limited info, others like to get the whole story before coming to a conclusion...I'm in the latter camp.
I couldn't find any other engravings.
