    Hey guys,

I need some good trumpet quotes. Here are some I've already found:

I didn't want to get that ring around my lips from practicing the trumpet, because I thought the girls wouldn't like me. So I never practiced.
    Wynton Marsalis

Trumpet players see each other, and it's like we're getting ready to square off or get into a fight or something.

This is an oldey - and must be attributed to a number of posters here on TM - at one point I sought permission to use it ....

"There are two sides to a trumpeter's personality:
There is the one that lives only to lay waste to the
woodwinds and strings, leaving them lying blue
& lifeless along the swath of destruction. That is a
trumpeter's fury; then there is the dark side......."

    My favorite....

"Playing the trumpet is such a intangible experience. The player is compelled to start from the beginning and build anew each day... It isnt like building a house, where we resume where we left the previous accomplishments. Each new day we must rebuild the foundation of our musical structure....---Armando Ghitalla

The battle is not man vs. the trumpet..... Its a battle between man and how far we can push us to make this wonderful thing we call music. -Vincent Chichowicz

If the mind is flooded with positive thoughts, your performance will show it. If you get on the field and your mind is filled with small things that get in your way and hold you back, prepare to suck.---My trumpet tutor-the night of simi-finals at BOA.

    A little Bible anyone?
Hebrews 12:19 and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them.

Exodus 20:18 All the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood at a distance.

Matthew 24:31 "And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

I was talking to Dizzy Gillespie some years ago and this young girl came up and said
"Mr. Gillespie, can I see your trumpet" wanting to touch and hold the instrument.
Dizzy looked at her and said " I'm sorry but if I let you see my horn and you drop it, oops is too late".

I don't know how many times since then I've used the term "oops is too late" when people want to play my trumpet.
The other saying I heard was from a band director in Buckhannon, WV.
He referred to the trumpet as "God's own instrument"
