After listening to this on NPR classical last night, i have been wondering if anybody knows what trumpet and/or mouthpiece. The upper register was sick!! Yes I know he's been practicing for years and am not trying to get the equip. to sound like him. Any insight would be great!

You mean to tell me he doesn't have to have a Monette to sound good! lol

No, a Monette would just give him some different sounds that he hasn't figured out that he needs yet......................................................

When he was a CV he was playing a Malone modified Yamaha C, a Scherzer pic, a "toshi" mpc (around 2C) and TONS of incredibly disciplined practice. His commitment to daily practice and musicality is what separates him from the rest of the field, IMO.
