I have been reading, "Trumpet Blues. The Life of Harry James" by Peter Levinson.

It is not terribly well written but very interesting, particularly the insights into all the bands of that era. Just reading of their exhaustive schedule, booze, dope, not very good pay, etc. wears me out. How they did it is beyond me. Obviously, they loved making music and thank goodness they did.

    Worth the time to read.

It is a pretty good book.

Tarnishes Harry's reputation a little bit, and Helen Forrest seems to be a woman scorned.
