I'm trying to learn Blues for Wood. First three notes slurred are fourth line D up to F up to G down to third space C. So really that's two fingerings, 1 and open. Seems like I'd be limited by how fast I can lip trill. I've heard this tune at blazing speed, so that makes me wonder if I just need more practice with lip trills (well I do, but you get the point) or are there alternate fingerings for cases like this that involve alot of lip trill notes?

Until you develop the flexiblity and air support to slur it, using alternate fingerings is perfectly OK. You can try 1 & 3 for the D, 1 for the F and open for the G. The downward slur to C should not be a problem.

I agree with veery715, but you can also try 1-3 for the "G" and "2-3" for "C"; though I imagine that would make things more difficult.
