I'm looking to get a new (used) trumpet for no more than 1500. Currently I am playing on a Bach Standard model STD 1. I'm looking for something with a medium large bore size and a good trumpet for varying types of music. I want the best possible for my money and I am not really sure what to get. Please help with suggestions and any other advise. Thanks

If you are low on cash, maybe you should just keep the trumpet you have. I use a trumpet geared towards a jazz sound for classical music. IMHO, there is no wrong trumpet that you can use for any kind of music, so unless you are unhappy with the way your trumpet plays, I wouldn't get another.

For $1500 you can get a lot of trumpet in the US.

Look into Schilke, Yamaha, Bach and Lawler trumpets.

Visit the NYTC website for his used horns.

    Also look at Dillon's website.

I would check those two before I looked at eBay.

They stand behind all of their products, new and used.

You should find a good horn.

Let us know how you make out

Look at the classifieds on this very site. You should be able to pick up a nice horn for that kind of money.

OE, as others have said, there's plenty of great used horns in your price range. If you've not found it previously, google, Jim Donaldson's "The Trumpet Gearhead" site has some great stuff. And this page: trumpet Guide.html

    Addresses your question.

    Good luck and enjoy!

$1500 can get you a GREAT horn. Please make sure to go out and play as many horns as you can before buying. The recommendations here are great, but YOU are obviously looking for something that your current horn doesn't deliver, so you'lll have to find it for yourself. Start with Schilke, Yamaha, Bach and Lawler and keep going until you find what you're looking for.

    Good Luck!
