Does any one know what type of bell Herseth uses on his Schilke E flat?

I was looking over the Smithsonian interview with him from 94 and it had a picture of his E flat with a huge raw brass bell. I have heard that it was done by wayne tanabe. Does any one have anything they can add to that?

    Just curious.

Bud told me one time what bell he has on his Schilke Eb. I think it is the Schilke #4 bell. Ron Pinc would know for sure...

    Herseth's Eb Bell

I'm sorry, but you are mistaken. The #4 bell is the standard bell on the E3L and the bell Bud has on his Eb is the #1 bell which, at the time it was made, was called the "A" bell. Incidently, I was present the first time he used the instrument(on the "D" side) at the wedding ceremony of Joan Schilke. Like most Schilke instruments, the horn outlasted the marriage :(

Then again, Herseth was the one the "O" bell was made for...
