Today I tried a Holton MF model ST550S.

Is anyone familiar with this model. I know that the medium large(.460) bore MF model nowadays is known as the ST308.

Is the ST550S the predecessor of the ST308.

The horn feels excellent. Its a used horn and is selling for $625.00

    Thanks for your assistance! :grouphug:

The ST 550 is not really a forerunner of the ST307, the are quite different really. The ST 550 is an excellent horn even though it is labeled an intermediate level horn by Holton. The ST 550 has a standard
construction tuning slide while the ST307 has a reverse leadpipe , both ,
however have a rounded tuning slide which really makes them play open.
The St507 is a 468 bore with a specially tapered leadpipe, while the ST550 is a 459 bore .Both horns really sizzle in the upper register. HOLTON has always made world class trumpets
