Am I the only one who wonders when I see a thread like this if it doesn't seem a bit "Cody-esk" ?
For the record, I don't think this is good advice for someone who has trouble with their tone. Do what Rowuk says instead.
What he said.
What Rowuk said. Jake called it Song and Wind. The song starts in your head. Listen to great players. A flute teacher should be able to help you with breath control (Wind). When Bud Herseth played softly he sounded like a flute (Hovannes' (sp?) Mysterious Mountain).
I was toodling around on YouTube and came across this - 1992 Recording with Wynton and Kathleen Battle. Wynton has fantastic sound - small trumpet or not, just a really nice full, sound. For me, he's still the standard by which I measure classical trumpet recordings.
