How long did it take to find a good teacher and it is true that there are more bad teachers than good ones?

Define good and that will help you weed out the bad. Look at the "fruit" the teacher produces. If it's good consistently, odds are the teacher is good. With all the schools in your area, you should be able to find one.

I wouldn't say there are more bad teachers than good teachers. I would say that there are more teachers who are a bad fit for a particular student than a good fit (and that's not meant at all as a slight to the students or teachers).

Call your local college school of music. Talk to the professor of trumpet. See if he has time to take you on. If not he can set you up with one of his students. Botta bing botta boom you have a teacher.
