How to increase your endurance

    I also have to say long tones are the building block for any trumpet player. when my endurance or range starts to suffer, it is back to the long tones. Dave

    For the next 4 weeks, do not play louder than piano. That should double your practice time. Technical stuff should be no more than 1/3rd of the ENTIRE practice time.

    1/3rd longtones and slurs, 1/3rd tunes and 1/3rd technical. My recipe for success!

    I found that my endurance problems had more to do with how I was playing. In particular relaxing. I have found that it take very little effort to play the horn. Just take the time to learn how to play completely relaxed. A resource that may help is the inner game of music. check it out.
