How to measure wind power

    My mother was a semi asthmatic, she had trouble exhaling properly(even though she swam miles everyday). She had a little gauge that she would blow into daily to help her develop the coordination. I am not sure what it was measuring.

    Personally I could care less about pressure, though there maybe other measurements that would be interesting, at least for bench marking.

    It might have been a peak flow meter. It basically measures the force that you can blow out (again, to give an idea of how constricted the airway is). Its a more rudimentary measure than FEV1, but useful for treating asthma at home (and having a semi-objective way to gauge how open or constricted the airway is).

    I haven't seen one used to improve breathing coordination though. I've seen them used much like someone with diabetes uses a blood glucose monitor. It helps them manage their disease.
