I got two cysts removed from my lip that were interfering with my playing. Some of you may remember the thread I posted about it about two months ago.
I went to Dr. Simon McGrail in Toronto where I live.
The surgery took only about 10 minutes and was pretty painless except when he zapped a part of my lip that wasn't totally frozen with the cauterizer.
You can hardly tell that there are stitches in my lip, but it is really swollen right now.
It hurts a lot, but I guess that is expected when someone cuts your lip open and removes stuff from it.
The Dr. said it would be a week before I could start getting back in shape unless anything abnormal comes up.
    I can't wait.

I hope everything works out for the best. Does this DOC specialize in this stuff?

Yes, he is famous for his work on musicians. I got his name from someone on this site.

I know a horn player who really messed up his chops and went to Canada to have surgery. Maybe it's the same Doc. Sounds like you were in good hands!

    Brek,
I wish you a speedy and complete recovery. With less lip mass, you should have an octave more range!

Does less lip mass have the same effect as a shallow cup mouth piece?

I am glad to hear your surgery went well.
