Well I'm a trumpet player and my husband plays guitar - I do believe we have different mentalities when playing, but we play together lots and sounds wonderful!

Very nice! One of my fav jazz solos is Chet Baker on It Never Entered My Mind. Instead of a piano, there's an electric guitar backing him up. Sounds great to me.
Isn't it amazing that the people who are most likely to state their opinions about music are usually those with the least amount of ability or education!
It would actually be cool if he wanted to learn the trombone, it's another brass instrument (and a cool one).
