There ya go... the most important thing to do is stay calm and have faith that things will get figured out with time and patience.

Now... get rid of the thread title so you never have to see those words pertaining to you ever again.

    Greg,

I wrote a post 3 years ago called Focused Awareness (When Things Are Going Well – And Not So Well). Your discussion with your teacher reminded me of this post and I thought you might enjoy reading it (actually the first two in that link).

In any event, it’s great that you were able to work out what was going on in your playing. Awareness will be very important for you to avoid traveling down this path again (I know because I found myself going down this road time and time again).

    Right on, Manny!

Greg, glad to hear the good news! Playing WAY open was my main issue too.

Anybody else ever notice how many of our ills can be solved/prevented with good 'ol boring long tones and playing old hymns/chorals piano?

Could there actually be some sort of Zen lesson that the key to faster/higher/louder is to also perfect slower/lower/quieter?

Jeezaloo, I wish you'd change the name of this thread. It physically hurts every time I run across it.

Leave the title as it is! Print it out on big paper and hang it where you practice! The lessons learned here will need review every once in a while (no, human beings do not learn by doing things right once - more pain is involved!!!!!!) and this story had a happy end!
