Input Please: Why Is The Tongue Used In The Upper Register?

    My #1 school buddy (we still correspond) got his grade VIIIs on both tuba and piano by the time he was 16 so these things can be done.

    yeah there's one in every crowd. .. usually captain of the cricket team, top of the pure maths class and loved by all the girls too. Kudos to you Seth for befriending one of these reviled types :-)

    Ok it's been several weeks now -- I think my tongue pushes forward, I sense that is rolling upwards on the edges creating a sort of tubular air flow --- I see that 3 higher notes above G are "easier" to play and more centered tone ((those are A, B, C)) the second set above the staff --- so this tongue thing is working for me --- needs more dialing in but seems consistent enough to report my success with it
