I am looking for a new intermediate trumpet that is reliable, has a bright sound, and in good condition, but cheap. I have a crappy beginning trumpet that I have been playing for almost 4 years, any thoughts on good intermediate trumpets?

    How cheap?

up to $150 - get an olds Ambassador
up to $400 - get a Getzen Capri
    up to $700 - Get a Getzen 700/eterna
    the best around $1K a 6335 Yammie.

You can sometimes be lucky and find a Jaeger going cheap, but rarely find them - players don't let them go - sometimes cheap Sleepers.

You can get a Holton t602 Collegiate on the cheap. Also look at some used pro horns.

Yamaha-4335 GII at around $750 brand new ticks all those boxes. Plus you can find them just about everywhere and play before you buy.

What is your crappy student horn? Many intermediate horns are the exact same horn with a thumb saddle on the first slide, but many intermediate horns are considered to be on par with pro horns

Are you going to ask Tony Kadleck whether it's time to move up to a proper professional instrument or shall I? :-)

The 6xxx series are all full-blooded professional models.

Sorry! Thought was the 8xxx & 9xxx. Regardless horns are all different weather a student or pro. I've heard of student and intermediate horns that play great but of the ones I have my pro horns play miles better

It is a Blessing (B-125) which is a great student horn, but bought it cheap and used and has fallen apart and is really dinged up.

Don't waste your time on an intermediate horn. Save your money and buy a pro model

The Mercedes back in NY and Mt Vernon days were very good trumpets. The Mercedes 2, different story.
