Is Doubletongue Key to achieving Crisp Singletongue?

    Do you do it with full-bore Armstrong growling? My Louis Armstrong voice lasts about 7 words before I'm coughing like an 80-year old chain smoker. If you can do all of "Mack the Knife" in Armstrong voice, you have discovered a vocal nuance I have yet to grasp.

    This clip pretty well summarises my idea of 'crisp'. I must have spent hundreds of hours working on this piece in my youth trying to get that essential 'lightness' while keeping all the notes clean and distinct. (Not quite as quick, though!)



    Agreed, though. One would adopt a quite different approach to 'Come Down O Love Divine'.
