I received an email regarding this event and thought I would pass it on. For all of you folks in Georgia, Southern Alabama or North Florida, it would be worth a trip. I attended many of Mr. Alessi's studio classes at "the yard" when I was living in NYC. I will also admit, his is the only solo trombone CD in my library. He is a phenomenal player. (Kinghornplayer - this is something you definitely want to attend. It is in your back yard! LOL)

Joseph Alessi, principal trombone with the New York Philharmonic, will
be in residence at Columbus State University next week – February 5-10,
2006. Mr. Alessi will present a masterclass on Monday night, February
6th that is free and open to the public. He will perform with the CSU
Wind Symphony on Tuesday night, February 7th. The rest of the week will
be closed sessions with the Wind Symphony to record a CD. Don’t miss
the opportunity to hear the amazing soloist and orchestral trombonist
Joseph Alessi at Columbus State University! Thanks to Edwards Musical
Instruments for their generous sponsorship of Mr. Alessi’s residency.

    Alex,

Message received... Boy I wish my oldest son were down here with me. As you know he's a Trombone player and could really benefit from this.

I'll try to check it out for sure, I can't go on Monday night I got Band practice don't want to blow that off.

I need to remember to keep on eye on Columbus State's Schwob school of music website I can't believe that I had Jens Lindemann down here and didn't know it until it was too late...

    Arrrrrghhhhhhh :x

Your entire band should be going to that master class! Honestly, if you told your director, I bet he would be supportive and it wouldn't be considered as blowing off anything. I strongly encourage you to try and make it. If you can't make it to that, definitely go to the recital. I will be down for one of the two nights, but I don't know which one yet.
