Beethoven? Hmmm. There is a story about Bix (not a fan of Beethoven) showing on the piano where Beethoven had missed possible more interesting harmonic developments and I believe him!

I guess I would have a hard time going that route as I have some pretty good equipment..nut no vinyl.

I would assume you have the equipment to play it without a needle. Do you use laser equipment?

I used to have some killer vinyl equipment and I am working on building my arsenal back up.

i would like to listen to that one -- I divested most of my vinyl but kept archivals.
Back in the 70s in Denver, KVOR would play all nine symphonies on New Year's Eve and then top it off with the Missa.
Another favorite old conductor is Eugen Jochum.

You should check out Herbert Blomstedts cycle and Christopher Hogwoods. We have learned a lot in the last 100 years...

Purchased the Hogwood Beethoven cycle and his Mozart Requiem years ago on CDs (not vinyl). I am not well versed about original instrument performances but these stand out musically.

Vinyl, when paired with the right equipment and KNOWLEDGE of how to configure and maintain it, can be a truly sublime experience. It takes dedication but can be tremendously rewarding for the patient.
