Keeping the throat open-AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH(driving me crazy!!)

    So it sounds like you're suggesting Robin should install a nitrous oxide boost in his mouthpiece meter valve ? Increased concentration = higher range.......nice ROFL

    Nitrous oxide??? That would surely have someone laughing, if not really freeze up your instrument.

    I apologize but I didn't read all the replies before adding mine.

    When I was in music school, I was forced to participate in choir (there's a reason that they gave me a trumpet :- ). But a couple things that it did teach me is a different concept of breathing (less restrictive) and that I found my throat much more open when I'd return to my trumpet.

    You might simply join a school, community, church choir to see if that helps you too.
