I bought a trumpet from a friend for $20. He left it in out junior high band room for about 3 years, so I took it off his hands. I says on the bell "Laval by French Engineers". No model specified. I'm guessing its just an ebay horn, but it plays well. Couldn't find any info anywhere. Anyone heard of it?

Anything that says French Engineering or German Engineering is likely a third world horn. I have seen the name before on horns going thru ebay, SGW, etc.

Had a feeling. I'll put it through the horrors of band camp to see how it stands up. I'll find some way to make use of it :-)

Yes, Laval is known as one among the numerous names used by chineese makers of low cost horns (a french site dedicated to Maurice André mention it, especially about pics). There is no "French Engineer" behind... But if it plays well, no problem !
