but I've noticed that lately with this different approach when I am playing high and loud, air leaks out the side of my embochure, and I don't like 'tightening up' because that is the source of all my problems, so what should I visualize when I notice air leaking?
I'm guessing that possibly two things are going on.
    1) If air is leaking out, then the muscles aren't strong enough and the seal between the lips and mouthpiece are compromised (do lip slurs)
2)Inefficient use of air (check out one of rowuk's discussions on circle of breath)
    3) Only use enough air to get the job done. Most trumpet players (in my opinion) blow to hard and use far too much energy to get the job done.
    good luck

Playing long tones should help you build the strength in your lips which should helpwith the air leaking.
