Leaking valves

    can anyone explain how you can check if your valves are leaking.

    If you want just a quick test for any leakage at all, including the waterkeys (spit valves) or slides, remove just the first valve slide, depress all three valves, put your thumb over the top open pipe from the first valve and then blow as OldLou mentioned. This pressurizes the entire trumpet. If this shows no leaks, there is no need to go further. If there is a leak, then do the separate valves - but check the waterkeys first. The corks may be bad.
