I have posted in another thread on here about when I was in a lesson my teacher kept encouraging me to blow harder and harder to try and hit higher notes. This lead to me having discomfort in my chest on the same side where I had a collapsed lung many years ago. I have been doing some reading and I think that the problems with my trumpet playing have been caused by me breathing incorrectly. Instead of breathing from my diaphragm with a nice relaxed breath I have been breathing from my chest with a forced breath, ultimately causing myself the aforementioned discomfort and frustration. I think I need to totally relearn how I approach the instrument, especially how I move air through it.

    Any thoughts?

I think your on to something Hey_pauly. You should search on here for Rowuks circle of breath. It's a great read and the start of breathing correctly while playing. Maybe someone can direct you right to it, as I'm not that familar with the site.
