Being a lefty, i've been looking for a left handed trumpet for a long time!!! I have no problem playing a regular horn, I just have always wanted a lefty trumpet. The thing that makes me angry is that this is the first lefty horn i've seen in a long long time and I have no chance of bidding on it because I live in the USA. :-(

    Poor guy!

Get a Buescher (or better yet an Elkhart) with all the valve slides on the same side... then you turn the valve block exchanging the first and third slides... and then you swap the bell and mouthpipe/tuning slide. Viola! Left-handed trumpet.

A famous example (turn your computer on its side, this is how it came online):

Edit: That description is terrible. It's a Model 236 Custom Built with a Rudy Mück 17C.

Left handed horns can still be made, to a reasonable price:

Here is a picture of a left handed trumpet I delivered to a Norwegian customer last year.

And here is the flugelhorn he got this year.

How much would a horn like that cost? Or better yet how much would a conversion cost?

I don't know what a conversion would cost, but CarolBrass
can make the lefthanded models for "a bit more" than the
    standard models trumpets and flugelhorns

Take up the French horn instead?

Funnily enough, I saw someone looking for a right-handed French horn on a forum somewhere a couple of weeks ago.

Cheers, I have a left handed Conn 22b in Silverplate. Serial#256531. I just got it, and it plays effortlessly. Call me at 716-410-3081 if you are still looking for a custom horn!! I have never seen one before. Thanks, Joe
