I also want to write that: I hope I have not offended anybody. I love playing the trumpet and I love trumpetplayers, upstream or downstrem, Old or young, beginners or proffessionals :)

Something to think about: We are all different both in life and in playing the trumpet and instead of looking our selfs blind on only what works for "ME"...try to think that there just may be some other ways that works better for others.

We could play each piece like Trompeten-Echo and not have to worry about style--wait! That is the German style!

I believe it was Doc who spoke about playing the Ballerina Dance from Igor Stravinsky's Petruschka at a lesson after hearing it played by a number of famed, delicate of technique "east-coast" players. Doc's teacher, (sorry--my old head can't scan deep enough for his name) Asked him to play the Beer-Barrel Polka, which Doc did.

"That is the style to play the Ballerina Dance in!," was the response.

Maybe we trumpeters have gotten way too Politically Correct!

I thought you did the playing for Stefan!

Playback is the only way to get my bell above the stand, and in marching band I only actually played when I was standing still!

Yeah it's like white water rafting!!!
I'm a downstream player, and I've always found upstream playing unique. I always stress to my young students that everyone is different. Don't feel that there's something wrong with you if you play differently than some of your friends. As long as it works for you.
