    Hello,

I think, if vibrator can develop muscles it can be good for face muscles around lips, no?

Or you could just practice. Then playing the trumpet does the vibrating.

Ha, there you go. Long tones on low C and below. Built-in lip vibrator.

I'm not sure totally rocked up chops are ideal anyway. I think toned, flexible and acclimated to your embouchure is more important.

The times in my life I've had "muscle-ish" chops was high school marching band season and a summer gig at an outdoor performing show at Busch Gardens during college. After all of those seasons I would need to work away the stiffness of playing that repetitive and rigorous regimen.

With the exception of being toned and acclimated, building your lip muscles up is about as important as building your finger muscles up for the task of moving the valves. Control and mental connection is first.

The 21st Century dream: everything except work.

It doesn't take much brain power to figure out that when we play music, that pure muscle strength does not allow us to change notes, play delicate melodies. Even if it were possible to build muscle with a vibrator, the conditioning of the lip tissue is missing, the feedback to the brain when we play a note is missing, the joy of a new melody is missing.

Trumpet playing is a fine motor skill, not weight lifting. It require consummate practice techniques to couple muscle movement to musical goals realized in the brain. The ears provide feedback and fine tuning possibilities.

None of the articles talk about "developing", they talk about preventing atrophy of the lower limbs during prolonged immobilization. Maybe chewing on a vibrator would shake the brain up and preven atrophy there..............................
