I'm looking for some new trumpeters to listen to and need suggestions. Some I already listen to are Louie Armstrong, Miles Davis, Maynard Ferguson, Herb Alpert and Chris Botti. What I'm interested in now is some Jazz fusion with some funk, blues and pop. There are some songs that have trumpet music in them in styles that i would love to find solo trumpeters in. Some examples oof what I mean are "Get Up Get Down" by Phillip Phillips, "Waiting For You" by Adele, and "Dude Looks Like a Lady" by Aerosmith. Are there any trumpet soloists that have a style in this vein? I've looked but haven't had any luck.

Try Randy Brecker and Sal Marquez off '70s Zappa albums.

Good grief, I've got that album! ("Don't Take me Alive" is my favourite)

Any way, Sal Marquez et al

Thanks for the suggestions but none of this is really what i have in mind. I was really looking gor instrumental music, not singers. I only listed the singers I did to give example of the musical style I was looking for. I reslly dont care for the 70's disco/funk sound. I'm thinking more in terms of contemporary pop/rock or blues rock with just kind of a funk slant. I'm really starting to think whar i'm looking for isn't out there. The thing is, i love the trumpet, but the only trumpet music I can find that I really enjoy listening to are film scores and what few pop rock and country songs implement a brass section.
