    Hello,
I really love the broad heroic sound of orchestral trumpet players. What are the main points of tone production you try to think about while you're playing.
    thanks in advance!

    Hey,
I think to improve one's tone one must really use their ears and listen to overtones/extra harmonics in the sound. This can only be achieved when playing bang in the middle or core of ther sound. (try some bending lip exercises and when returning to pure note strive for more and more resonance in the sound. Big 'aah' vowel shapes inside the mouth will help give your sound some depth and body.

    Its all about listening!

    Hi,

When I think of the sound I want to have, there are a few things I try to do.

    1) I try to take all acts of forcing out of the equation.
    2) I listen for a centered sound that is working with the horn. That means good intonation, and listening to the color of the
    sound.
    3) While I like to play "broadly", I don't think that way with my production. I think focused and centered with lots of color.

    Hope that helps,
    Tom
