Marching Band Discussion

    Many of the trumpets in my band play downsteam regularly, but in marching band we are required to keep it ten degrees above parallel. I'll agree that our heads go back farther than what's comfortable, but never after a practice have I thought "damn, now I have a raging headache and my neck hurts to boot."

    Perhaps there were a few cases, and those are the ones everybody hears about, but not a single player in my section has ever had a complaint.

    The problem is that you may be hurting yourself, or causing long term problems that you don't even realize yet..

    There is yet another problem with "Marching Band".
    Band directors that REQUIRE the kids to play their horns at ten degrees above parallel.

    Sad.....

    Good thing Sergei Nakariakov never had to march.
