    Uncluttered by marches, overtures, or suites, this program celebrates the legacy of virtuoso soloists that have graced our organization since the days of John Philip Sousa. Highlights include the world premiere of the concert band setting of Jennifer Higdon's Percussion Concerto and a new transcription of George Gershwin's Concerto in F by the Marine Band's own Chief Arranger Master Sgt. Stephen Bulla.

    Huggy just heard that these guys have to play a bunch of different instruments on this piece! Trumpet, Cornet, Flugelhorn, Piccolo trumpet.....and even an extended hos-a-phone improvisation by Mr. Harding! I think that's supposed to represent Don Jose' waiting for his Viagara to kick in.....should have used Cialis...Fo' Shizzle!!!

    The Director, Mike Colburn is a local guy. His father was Music Director at the high school for many years. The Band played here last year; very good show (and the price was right).

    Love to hear!!! played in El Toro USMC, Ca. band in 1951. never made it to D.C band.(8th and I right) Still playing at age 77 with many stops & starts in between. please post something about the results of the concert. thanks Jim
