I may be completely wrong here, but I can't believe how little has been mentioned here on the passing of one of the greatest trumpet players of all time. I know there are tastes and styles, but I would have expected a little more reaction than that shown here. Would it have been the same had a classical player recently passed away I wonder?

There were no less than ten threads on these forums detailing his passing and the response to it, from many pro players who worked with him or were influenced by him.

It is very sad that Maynard is gone. Check out the maynardferguson.com for the forum where the action has been regarding his passing and tribute concert coming up in St Louis on the 20th. He was certainly my biggest influence starting out in the 50's and ever since.
