I just watched a bunch of videos on Kobe beef and have to say that I wish I were a wealthy man and could just travel on a whim, I would go eat delicious meats like Wagyu in Japan and fresh lobster in Maine. Fresh salmon in Alaska...mmm. What is some of the best meat you have ever tried?

Beef in Chile. Around $10.00 for a 16 ounce steak and the trimmings.

I don't eat a lot of meat, prefer mostly fish and shellfish. Very memorable: moules au bleu in Blois (vallée de la Loire) - that's mussels with blue cheese. Most recently, a nice plate of shellfish in Cancale (Brittany), including some incredible oysters.
My all time favorites: my mother's fish stew (old traditional fishermen's recipe, prepared of course with all kinds of fish with a lesser comercial value, smaler and tastier, AND fish liver); and octopus, grilled, in a cold salad, with rice or pasta, whatever - and I like to cook it myself.

A concession to meat, to avoid being completly out of topic: when I feel I need a steak, I prefer this local angus du Mullerthal (http://www.angus.lu/).

Txs, will keep it in mind next time I'll be in Paris - have to spend more time in the left bank, I normally stay in the Vosges-Bastille-Gare de Lyon area.

Spent a week with my mother, son and daughter in the 14th, and just worked our way down the street. Gastronomic experience of a lifetime!

Being from Cincinnati I have an insatiable urge for pork
Best pork meal? Moerline lager house:
Hops smoked pork belly on a bed of brussel sprouts and red cabbage smothered in pan drippings

The best meat I've eaten was black bear. It was the ideal combination of beef and pork. That alone has kicked off my interest in hunting bear. A 2nd best choice was a ribeye steak cooked on a hot rock in the middle of a bed of hardwood coals while camping. Being so close to the coals and fire, it picked up a lot of smokiness. It also picked up some "seasoning" from the rock.
