    Hi Chaps,

My Selmers 3rd slide is as slick as can be.

Wrapped an elastic band around the slide ring, passed it right hand side of valve cluster and looped other end around
the 1 st valve ring. Stays on permanently and works like a charm.

Change of subject, Added a bit of slide grease to the ends of my Taylors somewhat noisy valve springs.
    Problem solved.

    Cheers

    Paul.

Hey Gary. Whether it's bedside ultrasound, foley catheter placement, or the dreaded prostate exam, 4 out of 5 doctors prefer k-y to vaseline. :-)

Keep an eye on the finish where the elastic band comes in contact. It may react in a bad way. I know there are others that know more about that sort of chemical issue.

If it's silver plate, there could be a reaction depending on what's in the elastic band. If it's lacquer, there won't be a reaction, just wear and tear.

That's about what I was thinking. Thanks, Toby. Good job on that.

my doctor is a woman -- I like her

I edited this post because, it certainly wasn't meant to offend doctors of either sex --- nonetheless, if the doctor has to do any invasive exams, a female doctor is still acceptable to me!!!

Perhaps having a tech expand the inner slides a little, just enough to keep the slide from falling out, might be a better idea than the inelegant solution of an elastic band. If the slide is loose enough to fall out, I'd guess that it doesn't seal all that well and may be causing a slight playing problem, whether you are aware of it or not. Besides, I would think moving a properly fitted slide would be easier than overcoming the resistance of the elastic band.
