I saw the Facebook posts. Pretty radical, I'd say. I would love to be able to afford his gear.

Tell me about it Brother...tell me about it! Even though I am extremely happy with what Andy Taylor makes for me, I'm pretty sure that I would love Dave's horns as well!

Always fun to hear how different really good players sound on the same horn :-)
Even if it looks like they did take the bell from a french horn or a trombone...

Must start Expat work in West Africa somewhere.
Loads of dollars and all tax free to spend on kit like this.

Thought I heard a bit of Contradanza in the snip.
Just proves WM has excellent taste.

    Cheers

    Paul.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but I thought it sounded like crap.
WM is still amazing, but the horn resonated like a tin can and the valves were way too loud.
I love most of the stuff Dave makes (that's why I follow on facebook), but this is not his best work.

Hey Daniel, did you watch the video with Ron Miles, Rashawn Ross (etc...) too?

I'll definitely agree with you that the valves are way too clicky and loud, but I thought that the horn sounded pretty good with Ron Miles and the others playing it.

It might not be his "best" work, sure. But I bet you in no time at all, his flugelhorns will be making the same progress as all of his new Raja III horns and every other instrument he makes!

Put any pro Flugelhorn in Wynton's hands and it is going to sound good. I agree the clicking of the valves was annoying. He shouldn't of videoed this horn until he fixed the clicking.
