    Here we go again.............

Just accept the fact that there are things in this world where not all of us can justify the cost of business. Just like a Ferrari, Bugatti, Rolls Royce, the finest wines or anything else of limited availability, the price is not the issue. I can personally attest to the fact that the Monette instruments offer something "different" and I do not want that, for me "something special" to be missing in my arsenal.

Just take the post as it was intended - as information. Discussions why the "uninformed" don't understand how something could be that expensive don't lead anywhere. They have been building 6 instruments per month for over 25 years, there are only a handfull offered used.

That's really not that bad if you think about it in a different way. Pretend for a moment that you're not a trumpet player. Here's some examples:

Piano player looking for a new Steinway and Sons model D grand piano: $35,000-$100,000
French horn player looking for a new Hans Hoyer: $16,000
Bassoon player/top end bassoon: up to $35,000
    Tuba: $25,000

I won't even mention some of the stuff violin players have to deal with....
We trumpet players are lucky! Besides, more than half of us don't even play a Monette instrument!

    Cheers,
    Kujo

David Monette must be doing something right to still be in business and supplying instruments to some world reknown artist. I have read some articles about all the research and development he has done regarding his brass instrument design. Even the late Maynard Furgeson went to his shop and was amazed. That says a lot in IMHO.

The prices may be outrageous, but from what I have heard they are worth it. Very rarely do you find a used one for sale. I have found used ones on two websites, ebay and the one in the link below. I want to try one of these some day just because of the rep they have.

Just scroll down to see the few used ones. There is also some C trumpets there.
