One thing that has bothered me about my Monette trumpet is the string on the third valve slide. I don't mind the idea of having the string there it works ok when it's new. The problem is when it starts to ware out. After about a week or so the string stretches. No big deal I just tie it tighter. One time at a rehearsal it broke and I didn't have more with me. I was nervous for the rest of the night. Well seeing how much I love Monette you know I wouldn't have posted this unless I had a cure. I went to the local craft store and told them about my trumpet and the problem and they sold me some stretchy plastic string used to make necklaces. I have had this on my B flat for about three months now and it has no signs of ware or stretching. I have to take it off because it is time to wash the trumpet. The string is called: Super Stretchy Elasticity Bead Cord. Made by Beadalon. Diameter 0.8mm or .032". http://www.beadalon.com/supplemax.html If anyone knows why I shouldn't use this stuff please tell me. I think it's great.
