After taking up the horn again in June & practicing all summer, I get to sit in & play with my towns concert band this coming tuesday. I'm very excited but also nervous. I acquired some sheets of their music last week & I have been practicing like crazy! We shall see how it goes, wish me luck.

Trumpet Chairs 3 & 4 require more skills in harmony in the Concert Band - have fun!!
    Good Luck.

4th part is downright hard. We got some 4th parts for the concert coming up. With 15 trumpets we can cover lots of parts

I took her at her word. Had fun, but I really prefer 2nd, and 3rd.

Anyway it is the audience that matters, and they had fun. My panic attack only lasted 1 hour

Welcome to the wonderful world of ensemble playing where you need to support the upper players - so generally volume level is taken from you if you play 3rd.

I really like the 3rd chair - I hate 4th BTW - and am the stand-in for the 2nd chair.

I play in one Concert Band where we have 11 trumpeteers, and another where we struggle to maintain 3. I aslo enjoy a Big Band (Stage Band) Group where we have 4 trumpets. I find the Stage Band easier than the Concert Band stuff.

You won't need luck - but you do NEED to have fun - just remember there are always better and worse players than each of us, and our faults are acceptable if you are trying - don't forget to count, and take you timing from the Conductor.

Exactly! I will be sitting in on a rehearsal on Tuesday. The concert is on th following Saturday but I don't think I'm ready for that. I've been practicing 3rd trumpet sheets of Washington Post March etc.
