I recently have been trying out a Najoom 1C/C 24 (2 piece) mouthpiece. It's a really nice piece. I think GR makes them...they all seem to be based of the old pre '70's Bach 1C rim with varying diameters, cup's, and backbore's. Has anybody else had a chance to try them?

    mps.

GR makes the Najoom 'NR' mps. ..... not the 2 piece ones.

The mouthpieces made by Mr. Najoom that I tried made me sound "tinny" through my horns, to me.
(I always got the same sense to my ears when trying Blackburn trumpets.)
It seemed like there was mass missing, or something.

Wow! Glad to hear someone else say it because I thought it was me...when I play my Blackburn mouthpiece it sounds tinny......worst piece I have ever tried....

I tried the Najoom/GR pieces at ITG. I thought they sounded nice and were fairly comfortable...but not what I was looking for. Definitely a good mouthpiece, but again, just did not have the combination of core and "zing" I wanted. And that's what it's all about...finding the piece that gives you the flexibility and control YOU want.

I use the Najoom 3C/M cup with the #10 and #24 backbores. It's a great piece. About the size of a Bach 1 1/2C, but with a slightly flatter rim. The sound is darker than a 1 1/2C, especially with the #24 backbore. I spoke with Mr. Najoom on the phone prior to the purchase. Very nice and helpful man.
