okay here is another one ... I play 4 different horns and you see if you can guess which one is which .I think this one is harder so I played 2 passages per each horn. There's some other stuff going on in each non-perfect performance .. which I think might help identify the horns... like I said it's pretty tough. I am wondering if playing classical music across a broad range is the way to go on this.
    Tell me what you think..

    Choices are
    1) Bach CR300
    2) Conn 28b Concert Grand (1924)
    3) Bach 37 Malone conv
    4) Holton Symphony

I'll put the answers (actual order) in my profile. (click on Coolerdave to get there)

note: if you look at the player there are 4 markers showing the beginning of each sample. You can click anywhere along the time line to move the playing point.. otherwise it takes about 4 minutes to get through the entire set.

    #1 sounds like a 37 Bach
#2 definitely sounds like the cornet
    #3 Conn 28B
    #4 Holton

    This is getting harder :(
    Guessing:
    1. Bach CR300
    2.Conn 28B
    3. Holton
    4. Strad 37

    A lot of a guess.

A lot of bad guesses... :(
Next time I'll listen more. In fact I found it is a little harder with the 2 passages.

yeah, it's one thing to play them and another whole beast to try to tell them apart without a pro recording setup. I tried using 2 mics .. one close and one about 2 feet away to give it some depth... still very hard
