Need some advice on "Growling"

    OK, guys, very helpful. The video especially. Now that I understand it, I find that when I growl (vs. flutter), I don't get a good sense of sound, since what I hear when playing is dominated by my own growling sound in my head. When I flutter tongue, I can hear quite well what's coming out of the bell. Anyone else feel this way? Do you get used to it?

    I'm playing Chicago this spring locally in the DC area, so need to do a lot of this :)

    When I growl I use a guttural throat sound, like the "ch" sound in "l'chaim!" No vocal chords.
