    Hello all,

I live in the Detroit area and need to find a teacher for this upcoming summer. Background: I am currently a sophomore performance major at Michigan State. I really did not do much trumpet in high school so I've been playing catch-up for the last several years. I'm looking at taking classical lessons rather than jazz. I really am looking for an absolutely phenomenal teacher; can anyone recommend someone? Thanks in advance :)

    Colin,

you help restore my faith in the young generation! First of all, you are asking at the right time - early enough to weed the options out before summer. Second, you realize that getting plugged in with someone "phenomenal" is good for you. Many others (even in high school) already claim to be experts - and try to tell the working pros how to play.

My suggestion is that you send a PM to Solar Bell. Chuck Willard is a very fine jazz player in the Detroit metro area, but is really plugged in and surely knows who could be good for you.
