During my labs I play music all the time. Sometimes the kids come and ask, "can we listen to a CD of OUR music?" I politely replie, "No!" I want them to hear, even if only as backgorund music, some modern music of substance and artistry. So, I'll put Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" on and let it cycle all day. Or I'll play some good indepenant music from the internet.

Today, it was time for Pat Methany (Imaginary Day) , Wynton Marsailis (All Rise) and...

DAVE DOUGLAS - A Strange Liberation (I think that's the title - it's still down in my lab and I am doing this from the hip at my desk in the office).

Man this is GOOD STUFF! Douglas has made a beautiful CD and FWIIW coming from me, I'd highly reccommend it!

    That's it!

That's cool about playing jazz for them.

I'm looking forward to seeing Dave Douglas in May in west los angeles. He has won so many awards so I'll get a chance to find out first hand what he's all about.
