New Member - Getting Back in the Saddle

    Using a Harmon mute w/o the stem is great advice. Not for price purposes but because the tons of back pressure the Silent Brass creates is not helpful. When you play sans Silent Brass the slotting is different, not helpful for someone fairly proficient on the horn let alone getting back into the swing of things.

    There are a few local groups that I can join, one with a "just show up, no appointment necessary" type of recruitment policy. Right now I'm focused on getting a little endurance and precision while looking for a teacher then I'll definitely be getting into a group. This isn't a 1 man hobby that's for sure.
