First post here. Picking up my trumpet and cornet after many years. I have a Holton cornet, Model 28 (I think this is the model # but the "8" is not too clear). The serial # is 322541. I think it was make in the early to mid 60's. This is a very nice cornet from everything I've read.

I need new valve springs and I measured them at 3/8" diameter by 1 1/4" long. I can't find any springs from online dealers that are the correct size.

    Any help is appreciated.

Go to a local repair shop. They will have them for cheaper than any online retailer.

Better to go to a tech and have them look at them. They may have comparable springs, if not the exact ones, that will work just as well, perhaps better.

There is no repair place in town but I can have it sent out. I'll do that. They can also check other things while they are at it.

I'm pleased that after such a long lay off, I seem to be doing OK. I am reviewing my music theory as well. What is a good beginner exercise book?
