    Hello, all -

Once again, I have descended into my basement to record some small ensemble stuff and have put two new pieces/sound files up on the StewMuse Publications web page.

"The Nightingale" by Thomas Weelkes, for trumpet trio
"Las Trompetas Matadoras" by me, for trumpet quartet

    Go to: http://www.stewmuse.com/MP3.html

Both pieces are excellent for younger groups, with "Trompetas" adding some meter changes and dramatic flair. Both are about 2 minutes long. Lots of other files, as well. Check em out!

I look forward to seeing many of you at the ITG conference in Denver next week!

    Dr. Stewart,

The "Las Trompetas Matadoras" is terrific. Nicely done. Writing for a quartet of the same instrument is often difficult to keep the chords etc. spread enough to not either sound like a unison piece or sound "muddy." That piece was crisp and nice. Is the MP3 the whole version? You said it was short -- but I didn't time it. If that was the full version, I was "expecting" it to go on. Maybe that is a sign I was enjoying it.

Thanks for the input, Jim. Yes, that's the whole baby. It was written specifically for a high school quartet's solo and ensemble performance, hence, the "two minutes and were out" timing!
